Physicians of Color and Racism – Sunil’s Story of Heartbreak and Hope 

People of Color experience racism and discrimination every day in life and in the workplace. A recent study published in the Journal of Family Medicine found that “physicians of color were routinely exposed to instances of racism and discrimination at work.” The following story, written by ARCS Oregon Alum Sunil Joshi, MD, PhD, and published by the American Medical Student Association, illustrates the experience of one of our own scholars and his response to overt racism, which ultimately led to a positive outcome.
